Vannessa Joyette Morgan

May 15, 1965 — May 24, 2025

Vannessa Joyette Morgan, a loving mother, sister, and friend, was born May 15, 1965, in Houston. An embodiment of kindness and warmth, Vannessa made her journey through life with a remarkable spirit that touched everyone around her. Her career as a bus driver for a motor coach company allowed her not only to traverse beautiful landscapes but also to forge lasting connections, most notably with her lifelong friend, Coreen Baker. Vannessa relished the experiences that her job brought, including unforgettable encounters with celebrities like Joey Fatone and attending concerts of her all-time favorite country artist, Toby Keith.

Throughout her life, Vannessa was known for her generous heart and her incredible talent for crafting. If you had a project or idea, she was always eager to lend a hand, reflecting her crafty and inventive spirit. Family gatherings would often see her delightful decorative apple pies, a testament to her love of tradition and family. Memories of coming home from school to find creative scavenger hunts leading to after-school treats are cherished by her loved ones.

Vannessa faced her battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer with the same resilience that defined her life. Shortly after her diagnosis, she welcomed a beloved companion named Journey, who provided comfort and solace throughout her cancer journey. In her final days, she was surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Livingston, a reflection of the nurturing and adoring persona she had always embodied.

She took immense pride in raising her five children—Kendrick Morgan, Stacy Morgan, Tiffany Trinidad, Ashley Morgan, and Kirsty Morgan—who overcame challenges to defy statistical odds and thrive as individuals. With every act of love she bestowed, Vannessa instilled resilience and strength within them. Her legacy carries on through her grandchildren—Lexy Morgan, Joshua Trinidad, Avanleigh Morgan, Zakary Morgan, Gabriella Trinidad, Kenneth Morgan, and Makenlee Morgan—and she will be remembered fondly for the special moments she shared with each of them.

Vannessa is survived by her beloved sisters, Kennette Richardson, Chandra Mills, and Phlissa Scott, who cherished her spirit and supported her through every chapter of her life. She also leaves behind her cherished son-in-law, Samuel Trinidad, her daughter-in-law, Chelsea Morgan, and her niece, Jessica Quinn, along with her nephew, James Quinn II. Vannessa’s essence will forever reside within the hearts of her loved ones, who carry her memory forward.

Though she is preceded in death by her father, Ennis Kenneth Richardson; mother, Patricia Joyce Helms Richardson; brother-in-law, Roy Lee Mills; and stepmother, Connie Richardson, Vannessa’s spirit remains alive through the myriad of lives she touched. As we remember Vannessa Joyette Morgan, we celebrate her kindness, her talent, and the unwavering love she gave to all those fortunate enough to know her. She may have departed this world, but her legacy will continue to inspire and enlighten those who carry her memory forward.
