Suzann Poskey

Suzann Poskey passed away peacefuly at her home surrounded by her loving family on August 21, 2026, just days before her 71st birthday. She was born on August 26, 1955, in Rusk, Texas.

Suzann will be remembered as a devoted homemaker who cared for her family for many years with deep love and steady devotion. She was a woman whose smile could light up a room, and she was always mindful of the needs of others, wanting to make sure those around her were cared for. Her love for family was at the heart of her life, and she found special joy in the holidays and in gathering loved ones together.

She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Suzann had a special affection for her animals, and that love was a meaningful part of her daily life. Whether at home with family, outdoors, or celebrating the holidays, she brought warmth, kindness, and a caring spirit wherever she was.

Suzann is survived by her daughters Stephanie Heflin husband Greg, Kristy McGuire husband Shady. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Walker McGuire and his wife, Anna, and Kelsi Salas and her boyfriend, Hunter Weatherford. Brother James (Bubba) Kitcher. Her family also lovingly includes the anticipated arrival of her great-granddaughter, Whitley Gail McGuire, due in December. Cousin Glenda Matthew’s of Rusk, Tx.  Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and her love for them will remain a lasting gift.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Rosa Kitcher her sister, Vanasa Cates; and her sister-in-law, Rebecca (Becca) Kitcher.

Serving as pallbearers will be Shady McGuire, Walker McGuire, Greg Heflin, Cory Cates, Charlie Cates, JD Kitcher, Hunter Weatherford, Bobby Frank.

A graveside service for Suzann Poskey will be held on August 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 5127 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.

Suzann’s memory will live on in the family she treasured, in the gatherings she loved, and in the many lives touched by her warmth, care, and bright spirit.

Special Thanks to the wonderful staff at Harbor Hospice. Her Precious Nurse Brittany Wallace and Niece Amber Kitcher for the wonderful care given to us during this time.
