"Skillet"

September 25, 1958 — November 13, 2021

Mr. Dyke Kent "Skillet" Greer, 63, passed away November 13, 2021 peacefully in his home in Texas, surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his father, VanDyke Greer; sister, Terrie Greer Payne; brother, Gary Greer; nephew, Phillip Craig Greer; his Pop, Sharron Allen; and his father-in-law, Charlie Frazier, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, DJ Frazier Greer; mother, Lamae Allen; brother, Shannon Allen (Mandi). Family, Kathy Greer, Linda Gorman (Ed), Connie Frazier, Angelia Frazier Goff (Jason), Charlie Frazier III (Kathy-lifelong friend), Michelle Allen, and Misty " Crazy Girl" Barnard (Scott). His beloved nieces, Abbey Allen, Mackenzie Frazier, Swayze Allen, Brayden Curtis. His Adored nephews, Jason Hammond, Hunter Huey (Brook), Austin Goff and Jax Allen. Great niece, Summer Watkins; Great nephew, Gabe Hammond; Great-great nephew, Myles Watkins; cousins, Everett Greer (Liz, Laura, Jason, Kelsey, Lane), Mike Greer (Debbie, Matt). Whether he was logging or riding horses, you could most likely find him in the woods. He loved being outside working with the horses and cows. He was a gentle cowboy who loved team roping, bull riding, and teaching his nieces and nephews about horses, cows and how to properly take care of them. Skillet could be found sitting on the swing at home listening to and telling stories. Kent adored all of his "babies"!! His face would light up every time one of his nieces or nephews walked into the room. All the kiddos had to do was ask, and "Unc" would be running around with them acting just like a kid himself. "Unc "made everything fun, and all the kids loved him. He would do anything for those babies no matter how old they got, and they knew it. "Unc" was everyone's favorite, hands down. Skillet was a simple man who enjoyed traveling West, riding horses, working cows, and going to the Stockyards in Fort Worth. He loved Dr. Pepper and sweet tea, but his most favorite thing to do was dancing to George Straight in the kitchen with his wife, DJ. He was the last Cowboy of his time, and he will be missed by all who knew him. "He is riding a fine horse now." ~ Larry Sims (Moon Dawg) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cayuga Cemetery, Cayuga United Methodist Church, or Little Britches Rodeo of Mississippi.
