Rosa Maria Padierna, 71, of Lufkin was born in Rio Bravo, Mexico on December 18, 1950, to the late Jose and Emilia (Macias) Santamaria. She passed away all too soon on July 7, 2022. Funeral services for Rosa will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Believer’s Bible Church with Dr. Bob Klund officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the McNutt Funeral Home Chapel. Rosa was a loving mother, abuela, sister, and friend. She was a selfless woman who often put others’ needs above her own. Rosa appreciated and loved the outdoors and her garden. She had many beautiful plants that she enjoyed caring for. Rosa was always busy and doing something with her hands; whether it be cooking a delicious meal, tending to her plants, or loving on her grandkids. Rosa was an amazing provider for her family and was always brainstorming ways to bring in additional income while also serving many years as the head of the household. Rosa was of Christian faith. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Martin Padierna, her six children: Rocio Marlen Vasquez, Nancy Vasquez, Santiago Vasquez, Arvin Padierna, Aron Padierna, Moises Padierna and his wife, Valerie; fourteen grandchildren: Venezia Ruiz, Natalie & Nicole Pena, Michael Pena, Tiffany & Coral Merino, Carlos Adame, Irabella Padierna, Ezekiel Padierna, Moises Padierna Jr., Kelina & Mia Sarmiento; Emilio Padierna, Liliana Padierna; several great-grandchildren; three sisters: Estella, Esther, and Mercedes Santamaria; her brother, Juan Jose Santamaria; two grand-dogs: Jiggy and Jexi; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and countless friends. Rosa is preceded in death by her parents, and three children: Martin Padierna Jr., Petra Emilia Ferguson, and Enrique Vasquez. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bob Klund and Ms. Dee of Believer’s Bible Church for opening their doors for funeral services; the staff at Heritage Park of Katy for their love and care; as well as Parkwood in the Pines and Harbor Hospice for their excellent care and support. Pallbearers include: Julio Montalvo, Eduardo & Armando Cuellar, Aron Padierna, Emilio Padierna, Agustin, Carlos & Armando Chacon, and Cayetano Padierna.
