Rodney “Bobe” Bivens, age 69, of Lufkin, Texas, was born on September 22, 1955, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to parents Lee and Lottie Bivens. He peacefully passed away on June 18, 2025.
Rodney proudly served his country in the National Guard and later dedicated over two decades as one of Lufkin’s finest police officers, serving with honor from August 7, 1982, until his retirement on May 6, 2006. He treasured the memories and friendships he built with his fellow officers.
Above all, Rodney’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Randy and Trevor, and took great pride in the men they became. Nothing made him prouder than watching them grow and raise families of their own.
Rodney had a deep love for the simple pleasures in life — bass fishing, classic cars, and the timeless music of the 60s and 70s. His warm heart, easy smile, and genuine nature made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Brenda Bivens, and his son Trevor Bivens, both of Lufkin; his son Randy Bivens and daughter-in-law Erica of Pennsylvania; his sister-in-law Jeanette Bivens and her family of Huntington; and brother-in-law Ricky Mettlen and his wife Mary of Colorado.
Rodney was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Erin, Nic, and Kailyn of Pennsylvania, and Thomas, Elijah, and Ian of Lufkin. He loved them dearly and cherished every moment he shared with them.
He is also remembered fondly by a host of other family and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
