Oren Struby Rushing Jr.

Oren Struby Rushing Jr., lovingly known as J.R., 81, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away on August 6, 2025, peacefully.

J.R. was born on February 13, 1944, in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of Oren Struby Rushing Sr., and Veronica Driggers (Shelton).

J.R. was in the Army Reserves and honorably discharged in 1970.

J.R. married Shirley “Ginger” Rushing (Graves) on January 18, 1962 in Alexandria, Louisiana. They were married for 64 years, had two children, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

J.R. was a welder for 56 years, welding was a passion for him not just a job. He worked for many different companies over the years.

J.R. was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He is a retired member of the Gypsy’s Motorcycle Club. Was a current member of East Texas Motorcycle Enthusiast. He attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 1997. Over the years he has built, fixed and remodeled numerous motorcycles. One of his greatest accomplishments was a trailer he built from a casket, that he actually used to sleep in while at motorcycle rallies.

He is preceded in death by his father, Oren Struby Rushing, Sr.; mother, Veronica Driggers (Shelton); brother, Don Edward Rushing; sister, Sherry VanSkiver (Rushing).

Those left to cherish J.R.’s memory are his wife Shirley “Ginger” Rushing (Graves); daughter Trudy Lee Brown (Rushing); son Oren S. Rushing, III “Trey”; grand daughter Jessica Lee Schara (Brown); grand daughter Pepper Morgan Rushing; great grand daughter Raedyn Lee Schara; great grandson Reed Alexander Schara; and brother Jack Merlin Rushing.
