Lufkin

Nelda Darlene McMullen, Havard, was born on March 9, 1947, in the gentle town of Santa Fe, Texas. With a spirit as warm as the Texas sun and a heart vast enough to embrace all who knew her, Nelda’s journey through life was one marked by love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. She passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, in Lufkin, Texas, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. We will be celebrating her life on May 16,2026 at 1:00 pm at the Lufkin Memorial Chapel. All who would like to come are welcome to come.

Nelda was more than just a mother, sister, and grandmother; she was a steadfast cornerstone of her family—a beacon of strength and kindness. Her early days in Santa Fe helped shape the loving woman she became, nurturing a devotion to family that was evident in every interaction. Throughout her life, Nelda’s commitments extended beyond herself, as she nurtured those around her with a gentle hand and an ever-open heart.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Reta Mendenhall, whose bond with Nelda was a treasured part of both their lives. Nelda’s role as a mother was embraced with joy and purpose. She lovingly raised her son, George McMullen, Jr., alongside his devoted wife Lydia McMullen. Together, this family blossomed with the laughter and spirit of their daughters: Kaitlyn Lewis, who shares a beautiful life with her husband Chris Lewis; Chelsea Ginsel and her husband Chad Ginsel, who have been blessed with a son, Judah Ginsel, carrying Nelda’s legacy into the next generation; and Madison McMullen, whose presence adds a vibrant thread to the family tapestry.

Her daughter, Toshia McClelland, and her husband Cody McClelland, stood close by her side, sharing in the joys and challenges of family life, with Nelda’s guidance ever steady. Among her grandchildren, Caleb McMullen holds a special place as a living testament to her love and dedication as a grandmother.

Throughout her life, Nelda also faced profound loss. She was preceded in death by her husband, George McMullen, Sr., whose memory she held dear, their shared years a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Nelda Darlene McMullen’s life was a mosaic of heartfelt moments, woven with devotion, laughter, and quiet strength. Her presence brought light to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire warmth and compassion among her family and friends. Though she has departed this world, her spirit remains a lasting embrace upon the hearts she touched, forever cherished and deeply missed.
