Mauricia Atkinson

Mauricia Atkinson, born on May 20, 1947, in San Antonio, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Lufkin, Texas. She was a vibrant soul who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, particularly drinking Diet Coke and scratching lottery tickets.

Mauricia is survived by her loving children: Ruben Juarez, Rudy Juarez, Arlene Atkinson, Theresa Gomez, and Mauricio Osequeda. She cherished the time spent with her family and was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Alfredo Escobedo, Guadalupe Silvas, and Bietris Guzman, remain to carry on her memory.

Mauricia is preceded in death by her mother, Juana Escobedo, her father, Rumaldo Escobedo, and her brothers, Gilberto Escobedo and Sylvester Escobedo. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Nila Castillo and Juana Avila, who have passed away as well.

Mauricia's warmth, love for family, and zest for life's little joys will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
