Linda Joyce Forrest, born on June 1st, 1949, in Lufkin, Texas, passed away on January 9th, 2026, at her home in Huntington, Texas. Linda lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a true passion for her family.
Linda spent many years as a short order cook in various restaurants throughout Lufkin, Huntington, and Zavalla, showing her commitment to providing for her family. Yet it was as a mother and grandmother where she found her greatest joy and fulfillment. Linda's proudest accomplishments included raising her children and being a devoted grandmother to her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A loving and giving person, Linda was known for her warm spirit and unwavering support. Her children often reflected on how their mother always had time to listen and offer invaluable advice on any issue they faced. During times of separation, particularly when her son was deployed during the First Iraq War, Linda made it a point to write letters almost daily, sharing family updates and ensuring her son felt connected and loved.
Linda's faith was an important part of her life. As a devoted Christian, she instilled conservative Christian values in all her children, nurturing their spirits and guiding them with her steadfast beliefs. She cherished the moments she spent with family, eagerly embracing her role as a stay-at-home mom after marrying Robert Forrest, looking forward to the opportunity to care for his two daughters and create a loving home together.
Her interests included collecting chicken pottery and glass figurines, as well as crocheting, which showcased her creativity and attention to detail. She took pride in these hobbies, often sharing her crafted items and collections with family and friends.
Linda faced profound heartache when she lost her brother, Bennie Joe, a Marine who was serving voluntarily in Vietnam. This loss deeply affected her, and she paid tribute to his memory by mentioning him regularly, ensuring that he would never be forgotten.
Linda is survived by her sister, Billie, and her husband, Ray Harris; sons Jesse Moody and his wife, Kristie, Randy Moody, and Steven Saxton; daughters Tonya and Carolyn Forrest; along with her beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary, Krysten, Claire, Emma, Meagan, Valarie, and Alyssa; four great-grandchildren; nieces; nephew; and several more cherished family members and dearest friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Forrest; parents Joyce and Nathaniel (Buck) Jordan; her brothers Bennie Joe Sisson, Michael Joe Jordan, and Richard Jordan; sister Mary Joyce Jordan Condon; and her birth father, Joe Bailey Sisson.
The life of Linda Joyce Forrest will be celebrated with a service held at The Memorial Chapel of Lufkin, Texas, on January 23rd, 2026, with visitation starting at 10:30 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M.
Linda will be remembered for her kindness, her nurturing spirit, and the love she shared with those around her. The legacy she leaves behind is one of strength, faith, and unconditional love, continuing to inspire her family and all who knew her.
