Leo Carl Land, 85, of Old River, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025.

Born on August 14, 1940, in Liberty, Texas, Leo lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, while always helping the less fortunate and the needy.

A proud United States Army veteran, Leo served his country with honor, was proud to be an American and never passed an opportunity to honor his country.

He was a mentor to many men in our community.

Leo was the man who always showed up, he was present in the lives of those he loved. He was always just a phone call away, ready to lend a hand, never questioning why – just an “I’m on my way.”

Leo was a good and loving husband to Alma, his wife of 64 years, who he adored. He was a good father, spending time with Mike, fishing, hunting, camping, coaching, and working together. He was lovingly known as “Paw” by his grandchildren, who he made the best of memories with.

He was proceeded in death by his father Carl Land, Jr. and stepmother Marie, mother Rosie Lee Secrest and stepfather “Big John”, sister Paula Smith, brother Kenneth Wayne Land, and grandson Terry Michael Land, Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife Alma Land, son Mike Land (Paula), grandchildren Amanda Gayle Torres (Rudy), Kolby Wayne Land (Summer) and Leah Lanae Hampton, sisters Debi Horton (David), Rita Land, and Colleen Waits (Donnie), great-grandchildren Ava Rose Gonzales, Tristyn Gonzales, Kapri Eve Land, Leo Wayne Land and London Kae Hampton and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. He shared a special bond with Jeff and Kathy Peterson.

Leo thought the world of his caregivers, Kristie Parker and Kim Hurst, we are thankful for the time they selflessly invested in him.

Leo loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will see him again someday.

If your better today than you were yesterday, you’ll be a good man at the end of your race.
