Judy Ann Valcourt, known as "Jody" to some and "Boss Lady" to others, stepped into heaven on September 22, 2025, at St. Luke's Health - Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, TX. Born on July 27, 1953, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Judy led a life rich in service and dedication both in her personal endeavors and throughout her commendable military career.
Having served proudly in the United States Army for 24 years, Judy was a forceful military leader reaching the esteemed rank of Sergeant Major. Her years as a drill sergeant shaped the lives of many young soldiers, imparting to them discipline and dedication. Her service included postings at Fort Jackson, Fort Benning, Panama City, Alaska, and Korea, where she made many lasting friendships and connections.
Following her military career, Judy dedicated nearly 20 years to the Killien Housing Authority as a director, her work, leadership, mentorship and compassion impacted the lives she touched.
Judy’s passions extended beyond her professional achievements; she was an avid lover of horses and found great joy in scuba diving. Judy loved the outdoors and embraced the beauty and adventure of nature. Towards the end of her life Judy enjoyed Youtube, Diet Coke, and a good argument.
She is survived by Brenda Stewart, her life partner, who provided unwavering love and support. Judy also leaves behind her sisters Carrie Thornhill (Mike) and their children Ashley Runion (PJ) and Camber Thornhill (Keith), Debra Martin and her child Daniel Albert, along with her brothers Brian Dean and Denny Valcourt (Melissa), and nephew Jay Briand (Sherry).
Moreover, Judy is cherished by her mother-in-law, JoAnn Stewart, and sisters-in-law Billa Burgess and her children Sunny Blyton (Derek) and Jennifer North, Jannette Proctor and her children Michael Favors and Christina Bacon, Lucy Potter and her children Danny Wiseman, Katie Wiseman, Grace Dove, and Jacob Potter as well as brother-in-laws Frank Stewart III and Tommy Stewart (LuAnn) and their child Megan Stewart. The warmth of her spirit will be remembered by her 19 great nieces and nephews and 7 great great nieces and nephews.
Judy was predeceased by her mother Lorraine Dean, alongside her mother, she also mourned the loss of her beloved sister Linda Briand and brothers Glenn Valcourt, Donald Valcourt and Scott Dean. She was also predeceased by her father-in-law Frank Stewart Jr. along with her nephew Jared Briand, and niece Kayla Albert.
A grave side memorial will be held at a later date, as family and friends come together to honor Judy’s remarkable life, her unwavering spirit, and her profound impact on everyone lucky enough to know her. Judy Ann Valcourt will be remembered not only for her service but also for her love, kindness, and dedication to those she cherished.
