Jenny Carlton Gieger

October 10, 1939 — July 3, 2025

Jenny Carlton Gieger, a beacon of kindness and affection, was born on October 10, 1939, in Alabama Creek, TX. On July 3, 2025, she peacefully passed away at home, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, joy, and an unwavering commitment to her family.

Jenny's life was a testament to warmth and compassion. Known for her loving spirit, she was a wonderful mother to her daughter, Dee Gieger, who brought her countless moments of pride and happiness. Jenny's heart expanded with a sense of joy whenever she watched Dee planting flowers, a cherished pastime that mirrored Jenny's deep-seated love for her garden.

An enthusiast of life's simple pleasures, Jenny lived beautifully and embraced each day with enthusiasm. She relished sun-drenched days spent at the beach and adventures with her dear friends, the Hodges, on memorable trips to St. John. Her personality was marked by a remarkable ability to connect with everyone she met; she truly never met a stranger. Those who encountered her felt the gentle touch of her kindness, a soothing balm in a sometimes-challenging world.

Jenny's education at Centerville School laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to learning and growth. She worked as an administrative assistant at Gleneagles Country Club, where her dedicated work ethic and warm spirit allowed her to forge lasting friendships with her co-workers, who quickly became her second family.

Her many interests and hobbies reflected a zest for life; she was a passionate tennis player, achieving the proud title of Mixed Doubles Club Championship winner, and a true ambassador for her alma mater, holding the title of Mrs. University of Texas. She also taught Sunday school, imparting her wisdom and love to the younger generation, nurturing their growth with as much care as her beautiful garden.

Jenny's vibrant life and legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Dee Gieger; Dan O'Connor, the next best thing to a son-in-law; her brother, Terry Carlton; sister-in-law, Judy Carlton; and cousins, Franny Cernosek and Marti DeCluitt. Jenny is also survived by her three nephews (each of whom was her favorite) and their precious families.  Each of these relationships enriched her life in unique ways, ensuring her spirit would continue to ripple through the hearts of those she cherished.

Though she carried the bittersweet weight of loss, with the passing of her beloved husband of 64 years, Ron Gieger, her parents Wiley Ethel Carlton and Jack Carlton, her brother Robert "Bob" Carlton, and her devoted Great Pyrenees companion, Sebastian, Jenny's memory is liberated from sorrow by the joys she bestowed faithfully upon her family.

As we remember Jenny, we honor her beautiful, fun-loving spirit that transformed the ordinary into extraordinary. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of many, a dazzling tapestry of kindness, laughter, and endless love. In every bloom that sways in the gentle breeze of her beloved garden, her essence will eternally thrive, as radiant as the sunlit days she adored.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Zion cemetary, Apple Springs, TX on Friday, July 18, at 11:00am.  It's July in Texas so Jenny would want you to dress for comfort.
