Geneva Irene Thompson, born on February 10, 1950, in Channelview, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and spirit touched everyone who crossed her path.

Geneva’s early years were spent in Groveton, Texas, where she graduated from Groveton High School. She later embarked on a fulfilling career at Memorial Hospital (CHI), where she worked as an insurance representative for many years. Throughout her career, she not only dedicated herself to her job but also forged lasting friendships and achieved numerous accomplishments that brought her great pride until her retirement.

Those fortunate enough to know Geneva were embraced by her vibrant personality. She was a firecracker, a strong, independent woman who knew just the right words to brighten anyone's day. Her infectious laughter and genuine care created an enduring legacy of love. Her family recalls her culinary talent with fondness; she was an excellent cook capable of making anything taste good. Holidays in the kitchen, surrounded by loved ones, were a particular joy for her, as they shared new recipes, stories, and laughter, all of which filled her heart with happiness.

Geneva's interests extended beyond cooking; she loved crocheting, sewing, and quilting, finding joy in creating beautiful things for others. It brought her immense fulfillment to see the delight on someone's face when they received something handmade with love.

Family was everything to Geneva, and she proudly claimed her greatest accomplishments were being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her children, including her beloved daughter, Stacy Jordan, and her grandchildren—April Whinery, Amanda Burnett, and Roger Whinery. Her great-grandchildren—Joseph Cook, Shakoya Jordan, Jazzmyn Houston, Emberly Houston, Owen Houston, and Felicity Whinery—were sources of unparalleled joy in her life.

Geneva is survived by her brothers, LeRoy Jordan and his wife Margaret, Dwayne Jordan and his wife Kathy, and her sister and best friend, Donna Jordan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Eula Mae Jordan, and her father, Joseph Cecil Jordan. Her departure leaves an irreplaceable void, yet those who loved her take comfort in knowing she passed away exactly as she wanted—with peace and readiness to reunite with her beloved mother.

Geneva Irene Thompson will be deeply missed by countless people whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have known her.
