Freda Honeycutt

September 14, 1937 — March 14, 2025

Freda Honeycutt, an exceptional individual known for her warmth, love, and culinary talents, passed away on March 14, 2025, in New Braunfels, TX, at the age of 87. Born on September 14, 1937, in Lufkin, TX, Freda’s journey through life was marked by her dedication to family, her beautiful creations in both the kitchen and through her sewing, along with a passion for collecting treasures that reflected her exquisite taste.  She also had a huge love for animals.

Freda began her professional journey as a secretary at Anderson Clayton Foods in Houston, TX. Years after moving back to Lufkin, she worked at Lufkin State School  as a Pharmacy Tech until her retirement. Throughout her career, she was recognized for her diligence and proficiency, figures that reflected her dedication to her work. However, it was her role as a mother and grandmother that brought her the most fulfillment.

A graduate of Lufkin High School in 1956, Freda was not just highly skilled but also remarkably reserved and soft-spoken. Those blessed to know her were enveloped in her warmth and friendliness, qualities that blossomed as friendships deepened. Freda was an unparalleled cook and baker; her kitchen was definitely a haven filled with the smells of comfort foods, and she always made sure there was an abundance to share with family and friends.

In her later years, while residing in an Assisted Living home, Freda found joy in playing Bingo and engaging in various crafts. Shopping for her cherished items, particularly make-up and chocolate, became a delightful pastime. Furthermore, she had a keen interest in antiques and loved thrifting for hidden gems that could be turned into special treasures. Her love for pot plants and flowers brought vibrancy to her surroundings, and she cherished peaceful strolls through the park.

Freda’s talents extended far beyond her culinary skills; she was an extraordinary seamstress, able to fashion beautiful garments that seemed to leap straight from the pages of a fashion magazine. She lovingly crafted many clothes for her daughters, Darla and Teresa, during their formative years and created stunning Bridesmaids and flower girl dresses for Teresa’s wedding, which held a special place in all their hearts.

She is survived by her beloved children, Jeffrey Sullivan of Humble, TX, Darla Stokes & husband Bill of Alvin, TX, Teresa Parker & husband Melvin of Canyon Lake, TX, and Steven Sullivan & wife Julie of Etoile, TX, along with her treasured 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.

Freda is now reunited with her beloved husband, John Honeycutt, and her siblings, Jimmy and Linda Harrison, alongside her parents, James and Mildred Harrison. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share their lives with such a remarkable woman. Her legacy of warmth, talent, and devotion is one that will continue to inspire and uplift everyone she touched.
