Floyd Ernest Morgan, better known by his friends and family as "Ernie," was a character. Born on April 5, 1957, in Diboll, Texas, Ernie lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a healthy dose of practical joking. He passed on August 27, 2023, in Lufkin, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of joy and fond memories. Ernie was a man of many talents, starting his career as a ranch hand at a very young age. He took pride in his work, whether it was harvesting hay, mending fences, or taking care of the horses and cattle. His work ethic was as strong as his sense of humor. As Will Rogers once said, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there," and Ernie was never one to just sit there. Among his many passions, Ernie loved working in his garden, building things in his yard, and reeling in the big one while fishing. He was a camping aficionado and a devoted dancer, especially when he was twirling his beloved wife, Carolyn, around the dance floor. His energy was contagious, his love for life was inspiring, and his practical jokes were legendary. He was the epitome of funny, selfless, and loving. Ernie is preceded in death by; his father, James Morgan and mother, Janice Wall Morgan his mother and father-in-law, Katherine and Willard Johnson, son, John Forsythe and grandson, Lowell Thomas Lee Forsythe.
Ernie is survived by his children, Jessica and Francisco Campa, Timothy and Kristy Forsythe, and his beloved grandchildren, Ah'Miya Thomas, Jacob Forsythe, and Madison Forsythe. He also leaves behind his sister, Janet Henson, Rhonda Jett and her husband Bob, sisters-in-law, Diane Hoffart and her husband Michael, Deborah Rice, Marilyn Faulkner, and his nieces, Shelly Newton and her husband, Mark, and Sharon Jett and nephew, James Jett. His special friend, Jodie Sweet, and numerous relatives and friends will also miss his infectious laughter and warm heart.
Ernie lived a life worth celebrating, filled with laughter, love, and the occasional practical joke. He made the world a brighter, funnier place, and for that, we are all grateful. His laughter will echo in our hearts, his love will inspire us, and his practical jokes will keep us on our toes. Ernie, you will be dearly missed, but your spirit and humor will live on.
