Ernestina Tamez Martinez, a beloved mother, wife, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Diboll, Texas. Born on January 6, 1965, in Raymondville, Texas, she lived a life brimming with love, warmth, and joy, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Ernestina was a radiant spirit, a true ray of sunshine who effortlessly lit up any room she entered. Her personality sparkled with kindness, and she was known for her generous heart, always offering love and support to everyone around her. Her greatest joy came from cooking, and many cherished memories were created in her kitchen. Family and friends were often enveloped in the welcoming aroma of her delicious meals, which were not just food, but rather expressions of her love.
Ernestina’s passion extended beyond the kitchen; she was an avid baker and took great pleasure in tending to her plants and caring for her animals. Her nurturing nature blossomed in every aspect of her life, as she showed her love not just through her culinary skills but also through her unwavering commitment to family and friends.
She spread the word of God with sincerity and fervor, a testament to her faith that served as both her guide and her solace. Ernestina is survived by her loving mother, Maria Salinas Tamez; her devoted husband, Gerardo Martinez; and her cherished children: Lize Sandoval, Gerardo Martinez Jr., Christina Martinez, Antonio Martinez, and Juanita Martinez. The bonds they shared were unbreakable, and their memories together will continue to illuminate their lives.
She joins in eternal rest with her father, Rodolfo Tamez Sr.; her brother, Rodolfo Tamez Jr.; and her son, Tomas Martinez. The love she shared with her departed family members is now enveloping them all, and together, they will surely watch over those left behind.
Family and friends are invited to honor Ernestina’s life at Lufkin Memorial Chapel, located at 400 South First Street, Lufkin, TX 75904. A visitation will be held on March 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
Ernestina Tamez Martinez will be remembered not only for her culinary talents and welcoming spirit but also for the monumental love she poured into her family and every relationship she nurtured throughout her life.
