Danny Joe Walker, born on November 13, 1956, in Lufkin, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in his hometown. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, whose infectious smile had the remarkable ability to light up any room.
Danny was a skilled heavy equipment operator, a profession he dedicated himself to over the course of his career. He worked with various companies in the Lufkin area while raising his children, showcasing a profound commitment to his craft and family. His courage and sense of duty took him far from home when he served 15 months in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his return, Danny expanded his horizons, taking on roles with numerous oil field companies across the United States, from Nevada to Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Louisiana, and finally back to Texas.
While raising Crystal and Clay, Danny loved supporting them in everything they did — from cheering for Clay on the ball fields or at Taekwondo, to watching Crystal dance on the football field. He also served on the board for Lufkin Youth Baseball for several years. Danny truly loved being involved and watching his kids do what they loved.
Outside of his professional life, Danny embraced a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He loved walking along the beach with his dogs, relishing the calming waves and fresh air. An ardent sports fan, he would often be found watching the Astros play, sharing his passion and enthusiasm with those around him. He also had a fondness for collecting cigars and enjoyed traveling to explore new places and experiences.
Danny's final years were marked by a brave battle against Stage 4 Prostate Cancer Metastasis To Bone, a journey he faced with courage and dignity over the last 2.5 years of his life.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 20 years, Lynn Walker; his daughter, Crystal Sullivan, and her husband, Caylon; his son, Clay Walker, and his wife, Brittany; as well as his bonus children, Shone Eddings and Corrie Smith, and her husband, Jeff. The love for his family extended to his grandchildren: Lexxi Haines and her husband, Cody; Rylee Sullivan; Korbin Walker; Emerson Walker; Skylar Ferguson and her husband, Michael; and Jayden Eddings and his fiancé, Tara; Grace Eddings. Danny also leaves behind his beloved four great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter.
In addition to his immediate family, Danny is remembered by his sister, Kay Thompson; sister-in-law Kathleen Walker; his niece Lisa Bull and her husband, Steven; and his nephews, Coy Green and Keith Green and his wife Monica.
Danny was predeceased by his grandparents; parents, William "Bill" Jackson and Betty Jo Walker; his brother, William Dale Walker; his brother-in-law, Steve Thompson; his beloved dogs, Jake, Riley and Dilon along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will hold memorial services at a later date to celebrate Danny’s life and honor the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him.
