Cathy Irene Clark Baker, 75, was born on September 28, 1946, in Chehalis, Washington to the late Richard and Ilene (Bowen) Clark. She passed away May 3, 2022 in Lufkin, Texas. A memorial service in Cathy’s memory will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday May 7, 2022 at River of Life Church with Pastor Mike Loftin officiating. Cathy was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family immensely. She had a servant’s heart and was a natural caregiver who enjoyed caring for others, from infants to elders. Cathy spent her spare time volunteering and crocheting; often gifting her creations to other patrons of the nursing home. Additionally, she enjoyed reading books and writing stories. Cathy was a very strong woman who was never afraid to stand up for what was right. She had the courage to tell the truth, even if it was not what you wanted to hear. Through all of life’s ups and downs, Cathy maintained a great sense of humor and had a smile that would light up a room. Cathy was fun and feisty- even up until the end of her fight with dementia. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Those left to cherish Cathy’s memory include her two sons: Rick Hoogendorn and wife, Karen and David Hoogendorn and wife, Sharon; six grandchildren: Josh, Shelby, Hunter, Kyle, Ricky, and Savannah; as well as numerous friends and church family. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas E. Baker. Floral tributes for Cathy’s memorial service may be sent to McNutt Funeral Home of Lufkin until mid-day on Friday May 6, 2022. Please join the family for a Life Celebration Reception immediately following the memorial service at Rick and Karen Hoogendorn.
