Candelario Castaneda-Almaraz was born on February 4, 1950, in San Lorenzo, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Guadalupe Almaraz and Jose Castaneda. He passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 76, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved him dearly.
In 1973, Candelario married Maria Isabel Gaytan, and together they began a beautiful journey of love, family, and devotion. They were blessed with five children: Eloy Castaneda, Juan Castaneda, Maricela Castaneda Torres, Esmeralda Castaneda Tatum, and Isaias Castaneda.
One of Candelario’s greatest joys was his family. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Cristian, Jasmin, Kali, Jade, Dante, Victor, Anthony, Gyselle, Isaias, and Sebastian. He was also blessed to become a great-grandfather to Natalie, who brought another generation of joy to his family.
Candelario was one of six siblings and shared his life with his sisters, Margarita, Lupe, and Flora, and his brothers, Fernando and Lorenzo.
Hard work was a part of Candelario’s life from a very young age. He began working as a boy in Mexico, developing the strength, determination, and work ethic that would remain with him throughout his life. In 1981, he moved to Nacogdoches, Texas, where he continued working tirelessly to build a better life and provide for the family he loved. Throughout the years, he worked for Lone Star Feed, Pilgrim’s Pride, and Tyson.
Although he was a hardworking man, Candelario also knew how to enjoy life. He loved singing and music, tending to his garden, and watching boxing and soccer. These simple pleasures brought him happiness and reflected the spirit of a man who appreciated life, family, and the things he loved.
Above all, Candelario will be remembered for the life he built and the family he leaves behind. His journey began in a small community in Zacatecas and carried him to Texas, where through years of hard work and sacrifice, he created a lasting legacy for his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
His presence will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family forever. His story will continue through the generations that follow him, and his memory will always be lovingly cherished.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
