Buddy Merle Herring, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and skilled craftsman, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 18, 2026. Born on November 17, 1943, in Littlefield, Texas, Buddy’s life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for those around him.
After graduating from Edison High School in Stockton, California, Buddy answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army. He earned his place among the elite as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division, proudly wearing the distinguished Parachutist Badge and Expert Badge for rifle marksmanship. Following his honorable service, Buddy embarked on a long and rewarding career in construction, primarily focusing on swimming pool construction. Buddy found solace and happiness sitting under his carport, savoring a Bacardi and Coke while listening to the timeless sounds of Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, and Jim Reeves. He enjoyed watching old western TV series as well as action, western and war movies his favorite being To Hell and Back with Audie Murphy.
His passions went beyond work, movies and music. Buddy was an avid hunter and relished opportunities for deep sea fishing. After marrying Gloria Rodrigues Herring in 1984, the couple spent many cherished years hunting in Montana. He also enjoyed trips hunting antelope in Wyoming and elk in New Mexico and Colorado, adventures shared with close friends.
