Billy Ray Willis

February 7, 1997 — April 18, 2026

Lufkin, Texas

Billy Ray Willis, born on February 7, 1997, in the humble town of Jasper, Texas, departed this world on April 18, 2026, in Lufkin, Texas, leaving behind a legacy wrapped in warmth, laughter, and quiet strength. His life, though brief, was marked by a golden and soft heart, one that truly understood the art of putting others before himself.

Billy’s journey began at Hudson High School, later culminating in his graduation from Stubblefield. These formative years sculpted a young man who would go on to embrace his role as a Welder’s Helper with pride and dedication. His expertise was not confined to welding alone; Billy’s hands, blessed with an extraordinary mechanical gift, breathed life into machines. Among his proudest accomplishments was working on the pipeline and the hard-earned feat of paying for his own truck, a symbol of his relentless spirit and determination.

Anyone who knew Billy remembers him fondly as a jolly soul, forever echoing laughter in any room he entered. He carried the spirit of his father, Dennis Willis, who now rests in peace, and wore his heart on his sleeve—a heart that his beloved mother, Sheila Willis, fondly dubbed “his momma Sasquatch.” This endearing nickname captures the essence of his playful nature and the joy he sowed among those fortunate enough to be in his circle. Alongside his mom Sheila and brother Caleb Toll, Billy shared moments full of life and love, creating memories that will forever linger. Billy had brought his mom (on her birthday) A Bird's nest. It was a beutiful and delicate nest. Nestled in his hands as a gift for his mom, Knowing that she would apreciate the beauty. This only displays his innate ability to lift others.

His character was radiant—a light amidst the everyday grind, taking after his father not just in humor but in a profound capacity for kindness and generosity. Billy’s innate ability to make others laugh, combined with his unyielding generosity and his invaluable talent, make the world a quieter place without him.

Billy’s story is one punctuated by toil and triumph, laughter and love—a testament to a man whose heart was as vast as the Texas sky under which he lived and labored. Today, as we remember him, we hold onto the laughter he gifted us and the lessons written in the steel of his life—lessons of resilience, kindness, and the power of a soft heart that always thought of others first.
