Ted Rolland Bennett

November 6, 1942 — September 18, 2023

Ted Rolland Bennett, a devoted husband, a beloved family man, and Christian, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, in Jasper, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 6, 1942, in Macomb, Illinois, Ted was the son of Virgil Rolland Bennett and Margaret Lucille Myers. His mother later married Forrest John Yingling, a man Ted held in high esteem and lovingly considered his father. Ted is predeceased by his sister, Sharon George.


Ted was a man of great strength and courage, serving our nation with honor as a veteran of the Navy. He was a proud graduate of Gallup High School in Gallup, New Mexico, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors.


Ted was blessed with a loving family. His beloved wife, Cheryl Bennett, was his rock and partner in life. Together, they raised a beautiful blended family that included their children: Eric Bennett, Sabrena Socha, Kurt Bennett and his wife Wendy, Charles Gilmore, the late Sandra Gilmore, John Bennett and his wife Michelle, Chance Bennett and his wife Monica, all of whom added to the joy of their family. Ted was also a proud grandfather to Quintin Socha and his wife Rachael, Jessika Socha, Avery Bennett, and Ryan Bennett, Colby Bennett, Kyndle Bennett, Christa Monceaux, Ona Johnson, and Shelby Johnson, and Derek Lozano and his wife Bekki The joy of his life was further multiplied with his great-grandchildren Seth Johnson, Kira Gibson, and Kyrah Gibson, Peyton, Colton, Madison Lozano, Victor, DJ, and Wesley Monceaux.


Proverbs 22:1, tells us "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold." Ted Rolland Bennett was a man who lived by these words. His name was synonymous with love, generosity, and a faith that was unwavering. He was a man who put others before himself, always ready to lend a helping hand.


Ted Rolland Bennett, a man who loved deeply and lived fully, will be deeply missed. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His friends will remember his generous spirit and sense of humor. And all who knew him will remember his passion for life, his love for his family. Rest in peace, Ted. Your memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
