Carolyn Sue Gilchrist

Carolyn 'Sue' Gilchrist, 78, peacefully went to rest with our heavenly father on April 16, 2021, at her home, with loved ones at her side. She was born October 26, 1943, in Lufkin, Texas to Homer and Ida Mae Yates. Sue loved working in her garden and tending to her yard. Her grandchildren hold fond memories of having coffee on her porch, watching squirrels play, and listening to her doves as they enjoyed the beginning of a new day. Her home was opened to those in need, from family members needing rest or a fresh start, to family friends or those she held dear that just needed a hand in times of need. Her family fondly recalls her love of music, particularly Alan Jackson and Brooks n Dunn, how she loved to dance, and her laugh in times of joy. Her heart of gold and sharp tongue will be deeply and truly missed by all her friends, family, and all who knew her. Sue is survived by her sister Robbie Johnson; her children, Debra Sustaita, Tina Brock, and DeWanna Dumas; her grandchildren; Chris Farney, Jennifer Harris, Jessica Brock, Aaron Dumas, Bryan Dumas, Emily Allen, and Alexis Sustaita, and great-grandchildren; Skylar, Haven, and Kenzie Farney, Jocelynn Dumas, Ayden, and Alice Lugo, Zayne Allen, Lacey, and Kali Henry.
