Barbara Nell Luther

Barbara Nell Luther, 61, of San Augustine, TX passed away peacefully Wednesday October 4, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Barbara was born October 12, 1961 to Willie Cotton and Alice Ann Mettlen. She earned her diploma from Wells High School and devoted her life to caring for her family and keeping a warm home. Barbara enjoyed fishing, cooking, canning, dolphins and spending time with her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Evelyn Bebe Spencer, her baby brother at birth; aunt, Rose; and her grandmother, Willie B. Mettlen. She leaves behind her loving husband, Doyle Luther; son, Dewayne Luther and wife Kathy of Cleveland, TX; daughter, Alice Hayes of Wells, TX; sisters, Judy Soignet and husband Jay, Hazel Wallace and husband David of Pollok, TX, Amy Frazier, Katherine Mettlen both of Lufkin; brothers, Larry Mettlen and wife Julie of Broaddus, TX, and Kenneth Mettlen of Wells, TX; grandchildren, McKenzie, Jeremiah, Ivy, Shady, Wayne Paul, Delilah, Elijah and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish in her memories.
